Today, most commercial graphic art is produced digitally
— that is, using computers to make it. However,
publications for the World Wide Web have different standards
and capabilities than those printed on paper. This Digital
Design section refers to anything that's published digitally
for use on the internet and computers.

With
web-based applications, resolution — or viewing/printing
quality — is lower because the internet is limited to
72 pixels per inch. This compares to the more complicated
print production which can start at 350 pixels and go up.
Web-based design can move and be active
as with animated pictures, scrolling bars, and movies. And,
the web is all about color, color, color which does not cost
extra like it does in paper publications.
Think of your website as the biggest possible
ad for your product or service. It contains all the info you
want your customers to have and all of the info they repeatedly
request.
A website can start small and grow over
time, or it can remain virtually static, hardly ever changing.
It can be a public site available to anyone online, a private
site with user names and passwords, or a combination of both.

A contact form, survey, or poll for visitors to input
info for your use.

A forum or blog where visitors communicate with each
other.

A place for you, employees, clients and contacts to
exchange information through file uploads (put them
on the web) and downloads (get them from the web).

| From
start to finish, the full setup. You pick the domain
name (website address), and we'll secure it along with
your hosting company service (the computer servers that
hold your website and have it available for internet
users).
The design elements — like
colors, graphic objects, photos, fonts, and website
style — are your choice. Once completed, the website
will be representative of your personality and your
business!
You can write the text content
yourself, and just have us edit for grammar and internet
style. Or, you can give us some basic content, ideas
and direction, and we’ll write all of it.
We can incorporate your existing
graphics and photos, or we can produce everything that’s
needed.
Traditionally, website developers
place their content in table boxes and squares to keep
text and pictures anchored in the spot where they want
them to appear. This gets a little boring, and sites
tend to look the same ol’, same ol'.
Whenever possible, Pagosa Graphics
Design, Inc. breaks out of the boxes and onto the canvas,
which is the ever growing computer monitor. Our websites
are designed to be visually appealing and fully functional.
Content is organized and structured
by categories, much like chapters in a book. Our consistent
page linking systems always work which allow your visitors
to surf through your site with ease and never get lost.

Older
websites that have been updated by adding a page here
and there tend to get unorganized and have non-functioning
page links. There is no better way to lose visitors
than to have a non-functioning site. They'll return
a few times to see if you've fixed it, and then, they'll
stop coming altogether.
Older designs can also have an
out-of-date look and can be brought into the 21st Century
with a fresh, new design. Internet users are very fickle
and make split decisions based on attractiveness, content
and usability. If they don't like your site, they won't
be back.
Some sites that don't work have
so many problems that it's easier and cheaper to start
from scratch. By doing this, you also end up with a
high quality product, rather than one that's bandaged
together.
Each website is unique unto itself!
We can evaluate your site and give you our recommendations
and estimates for quick fixes, or tell you if it's time
for total replacement. |
